I would say primarily third and fifth points reflect the same thing. You build a community per se to share with others what you have and gain what they have.

That is infact the underlying philosophy of Web2.0 where you're sharing via various means user-generated content.

Badass Alex. Wondering how number 5 will pay off for you.. or maybe it already has!

Sage responded as well with a video reply that didn't trackback but it's cool to see something in a different format... <a href="http://www.webmarketingwatch.com/Web_Marketing_Videos/February_2007/5_Reasons_Why_I_Blog_-_tagged_by_Greg/">Web Marketing Watch</a>

- Phatty received -

In all honesty I'm a very weak blogger. I have yet to transition from my large database (shoebox) full of writings (sticky notes). If I could just get out of the habit of writing my thoughts down and type them instead I'd be a world renowned blogger by now. Plus I'd save a few trees.

However, I do find the time to blog on occasion and here's why (I've ranked your terms as they apply to me):
1) Community - More than anything I enjoy the responses I get from readers. I've gained quite a few LinkedIn connections through my site as well.
2) Knowledge - *see your definition
3) Experimentation - *see your definition
4) To Share - *see your definition
5) To get chicks
